How are recipients selected?
Selections are based on a combination of GPA, extracurricular activities, leadership, volunteer hours, work experience, and essay quality. Each scholarship category has its own criteria and weightings.

Is there a GPA minimum?
Yes. Applicants for the High School 4-Year College Scholarship and the Continuing Education Scholarship must have a 2.5 GPA or higher; applicants for the High School Technical/Trade Scholarship must have a 2.0 GPA or higher. Other categories have no GPA minimum.

How many scholarships are awarded?
In 2025, SCSC awarded over $115,000 to more than 90 applicants across multiple scholarship categories. This year’s award amount will depend on how much money we have to distribute and the number of winning applicants.  

When can I apply?
Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle window will open 1 December, 2025. Please check back on our website or follow the Stuttgart Community Spouses’ Club on Facebook for updates.

When are applications due?
Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle are due by 13 February, 2026 at Midnight Central European Time. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.


How is my application assessed and awards determined?

1. HIGH SCHOOL – 4-Year / TECHNICAL / CONTINUING STUDENT

Patriot Scholar (Gold Tier) – Exceptional Performance

  • Consistently high academic performance with notable achievements.

  • Demonstrated leadership across multiple areas of school or community life; frequently initiates and leads meaningful projects.

  • Strong evidence of purposeful work experience or internships that reflect maturity, initiative, and leadership.

  • Essay demonstrates exceptional insight, organization, and originality; fully addresses the prompt with depth, relevance, and a compelling personal voice.

Ambassador Scholar (Silver Tier) – Strong Performance

  • Solid academic achievement with clear evidence of effort, responsibility, and commitment to growth.

  • Demonstrates leadership or service in one or more areas within school or community; shows reliability and initiative.

  • Includes relevant work experience or internships that demonstrate developing skills and responsibility.

  • Essay effectively addresses the prompt with clear organization, thoughtful reflection, and meaningful examples.

Unity Scholar (Bronze Tier) – Promising Performance

  • Demonstrates emerging academic consistency and noticeable personal growth over time.

  • Shows increasing engagement in leadership, volunteerism, or community participation with potential for greater impact.

  • Includes limited but developing work experience or training tied to leadership or skill-building.

  • Essay addresses the prompt clearly and shows effort, organization, and emerging critical thinking.

2. REVOLVING SCHOLARSHIP

Awarded through three tiers of excellence to applicants pursuing non-traditional, off-cycle, or part-time education goals at an accredited institution.

Patriot Scholar (Gold Tier) – Exceptional Performance

  • Outstanding demonstration of leadership, professional initiative, and community engagement across multiple settings.

  • Clearly articulates how the scholarship supports continued education or certification aligned to a defined career path.

  • Provides measurable examples of career progress, achievements, or certifications that reflect growth and excellence.

  • Resume demonstrates advancement, quantifiable accomplishments, and professional focus consistent with stated goals.

Ambassador Scholar (Silver Tier) – Strong Performance

  • Demonstrates consistent participation in professional, volunteer, or leadership roles within the community.

  • Communicates clear educational and career goals with specific examples of how this scholarship would support next steps.

  • Provides relevant examples of progress, training, or certifications that show initiative toward career development.

  • Resume highlights transferable skills, steady performance, and initiative toward continued growth.

Unity Scholar (Bronze Tier) – Promising Performance

  • Displays developing leadership or service involvement and a growing sense of direction toward educational or career goals.

  • Communicates a sincere desire for self-improvement and continued learning within a chosen field.

  • Resume reflects initiative, early training, or entry-level experience aligned with long-term aspirations.

3. SPOUSE SCHOLARSHIP

Awards determined through comprehensive review of experience, leadership, service, and essay responses (not tiered).

Evaluation Criteria

  • Demonstrated professional, volunteer, or academic impact within the current or previous community or workplace.

  • Clearly communicates how personal and professional experiences contribute — or will contribute — to the Stuttgart community.

  • Highlights awards, honors, and achievements that reflect leadership, service, and engagement.

Essay demonstrates:

  • A clear connection between educational goals, scholarship purpose, and professional or personal advancement.

  • Strong organization, grammar, and personal reflection that deepens understanding of motivation and growth.

  • Full adherence to prompt, formatting, and submission guidelines.
